“The Shippon is a charming Cottage and the standard of cleanliness is exceptional. Robin & Jan have equipped it with everything needed for a very comfortable, relaxing holiday with lots of personal touches which make all the difference. The garden is lovely and we were delighted to see the variety of birds feeding there including Woodpeckers, Nuthatches and Siskin but to name a few. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the Cottage setting is perfect. The Shippon is a credit to Robin & Jan who made us very welcome. We loved the accommodation so much that we booked a return visit the following Summer...

The stone Farmhouse (sleeps up to 10) and separate little cottage (Shippon, sleeps 2+) of Bryn Halen Mawr nestle 290 metres high in the heavenly Denbighshire hills with spectacular open views to the Clwydians, Clocaenog forest and towards Snowdonia. Off the busy tourist trail, two miles down a single-lane road, you have found the perfect, peaceful location for a ‘get away from it all’ holiday. It is, however, easy to reach and ideally situated for exploring North Wales. Chester is 45 minutes drive, Manchester and Liverpool just over an hour and Birmingham under 2 hours. Snowdonia is 35 minutes away, North and West Coasts just an hour's drive and many beauty spots and attractions even closer. With picturesque walks from the door and other great rambles nearby, this undiscovered countryside reveals stunning views in every direction. Even in North Wales, renowned for its beauty, this area stands out. (See testimonials)
Bryn Halen Mawr self-catering accommodation comprises The Old Farmhouse (four bedrooms, sleeps 10); and the wheelchair-friendly converted barn, the "Shippon" (one double bedroom). Dating from 1762, the Farmhouse charms visitors with exposed beams, original period features and unique character. The open-plan Shippon is equally popular with guests enjoying its contemporary style. Both homes are very comfortable, warm and well-equipped. A high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout, and facilities provided for re-cycling.
This traditional “U” shaped farmyard is bordered by rolling, open pasture and our own seven acres of orchard, coppice and meadow where the patient or lucky observer may see a world of wildlife. A wide range of birds visit the garden feeders all year round, a constant source of delight. Peanuts are provided, but guests can try other birdfood to attract different species.
For your convenience electricity, heating and hot water are included in the price as is bed linen. Towels are available for a small extra fee. We provide a starter basket of laundry/diswasher tabs etc.
Mountain bike hire and guided rides from the door can be arranged in season and information provided on walking and other activities which can be enjoyed at Bryn Halen Mawr or in the surrounding area.
