The Old Farmhouse sleeps up to 10 +cots ****

What a wonderful house. Full of charm and very well- equipped. We wanted for nothing and are sad leaving today. We had a wonderful time here and the children enjoyed immensely the house and grounds with great freedom to play. The house enjoys a uniquely quiet, rural location but is within driving distance of so much Wales has to offer…. To the next guests: I hope we have left some of our happy atmosphere added to this lovely house and may you enjoy it as much as we have.” Brady family, Ireland.

The 18th century farmhouse has been carefully renovated to provide a comfortable retreat that is full of character and retains many of its original features.  One of the sitting rooms features an inglenook fireplace whilst the other has a wood burning stove and oak panelling.  There are exposed oak beams throughout and all of the floors upstairs are varnished wood.  Uniquely, the farmhouse is divided into two halves with separate staircases, each leading to two bedrooms.  The sunny conservatory joins both halves, making this ideal for two families or a group of friends to have some privacy during their stay.

The accommodation comprises, on the 18th c. side:

  • A very well equipped farmhouse kitchen with large dining table seating 10, welsh dresser made from recycled wood with an attractive display of useful crockery, oil-fired Rayburn* and an electric double oven, four ring cooker, microwave, toaster, fridge, dishwasher, Belfast sink, handmade units and a large larder/storage cupboard with 2 highchairs. (There is a second fridge/freezer in the utility room.)
  • The inglenook sitting room features a large open fireplace boasting toasting seats either side, three large comfy sofas, nice coffee tables, stereo CD and games.
  • The large, charming master bedroom has a  modern five-foot double four poster bed, nooks and crannies and antique furniture and room for the folding bed and/or cot.
  • The cosy landing is a room of it's own, with a desk and daybed which can sleep one, though it is not private, handy for that extra person.
  • Across the landing is a warm and colourful bathroom with large old fashioned cast iron bath and airing cupboard.
  • The attractive and quirky small bedroom has twin beds, one of which stores under the other to give more space for single occupancy.
  • Both sides of the house have glass doors that open onto the bright conservatory with cane furniture and a beautiful passion flower creeper.

and on the 19th cent. side:

  • The oak-panelled TV sitting room has TV/DVD/video and a wood burning stove.
  • The large and airy double bedroom has a comfortable double bed handmade from local beech and a wooden cot and boasts far-reaching views in two directions. An ideal family room, with space for the folding bed.
  • The delightful twin bedroom has comfortable beds and lovely views in two directions. On request the beds can be joined to make a huge double.
  • The downstairs bathroom has a shower over the bath and heated towel rail.
  • The utility room provides an additional kettle, and fridge-freezer, washer/dryer and Victorian drying rail, Belfast sink and drainer. The modern oil burning boiler, which heats the house and hot water, makes this an ideal drying room, coats and boots room or just somewhere to dry the dog.

Outside is a seating/dining area which leads to the mature garden, which surrounds the house, planted with a variety of trees and colourful bushes with little welsh poppies growing everywhere throughout the season. There is always something in flower and plenty of colour and scent.

At the bottom of the garden is the rustic summerhouse, converted from the old pig sty (though you wouldn’t know it), which has a free-standing hammock and other seating (Lloyd loom chairs gathered from second-hand shops) and is a perfect place to read, snooze or gather for a cup of tea or evening drink in the flower-perfumed atmosphere.
